MY STORY
Like so may aspiring professional communicators, I began as a ‘cub’ journalist, simultaneously writing for my university magazine and local newspapers and then moving on to the
BBC


I gained a world of experience working as a journalist and producer in radio and TV.


Eventually I moved into the world of financial news, which is all about understanding strategies and how they can be successfully applied to build those profits!


The world of finance wasn't my first choice (in fact it wasn't my fifth or tenth or ... (well, you get it).


But, a good friend who was just about to set up an investment management news desk in our company, asked me to join the desk as a financial news correspondent (and eventually desk deputy editor).


My immediate response was ‘no thanks’; I'd always promised myself I would
never  write on finance.


Then of course life did that thing that it often does and served me a curveball of realisation; a reminder that my whole raison d’etre is based on curiosity, the need to learn and the desire to share knowledge. 


I live by the mantra knowledge is strength.


And, I must admit, I found the contrived and often convoluted language of investment management fascinating. 


I discovered an appreciation of - and a facility to - cut through complexities, such as black box investment strategies.  I demonstrated the capacity to translate the technicalities of those strategies - for a wide range of stakeholders - into accessible and coherent content; using a multitude of content assets to make sure knowledge was clearly communicated.


All of this experience led me to become an excellent business and brand strategist -
a Change Maker - as recognised by the global news agency, Reuters, when they head-hunted me to editorially re-structure and manage  their consumer business television division.


I've been the head of thought leadership with a leading US non-profit and involved in the ideation and development of a Stakeholder Knowledge Committee, in order to reposition that organisation within its sector - leading to a company Gold Award for performance.


My career has been built from the ground up, beginning with world broadcast and print news.


In summary, I've progressed to asset management content delivery: editorial management; content strategy management, thought leadership ideation, Insights creation and delivery; corporate transformation & knowledge leader sector placement, marketing & business development.


I’m skilled in project management: business incorporation, business strategy development, team management and mentoring - and have established four limited companies within different sectors:


  • Film Production
  • School Educational Programmes
  • Financial News
  • Employment & Business Development Management (CIC)


And, it’s a skill set I continue to enthusiastically develop, with a firm focus on technology and Ai innovations.
